Stay in Sidemen

Sidemen offers a tranquil and authentic rural atmosphere. You will see local farmers working in the fields, friendly communities, and the traditional Balinese village life that remains strong. This village is located about a 90-minute drive from Ubud or approximately 1.5 hours from the airport.

Weaving is not just a livelihood but also an integral part of the village’s cultural identity. Songket and Endek Fabrics: Sidemen is renowned as a producer of traditional Balinese songket and endek fabrics, known for their dense and distinctive motifs. The production process still employs traditional weaving tools and is deeply meaningful culturally.

The farming community in Sidemen, like in other areas of Bali, heavily relies on a traditional irrigation system known as Subak. This system is a social-religious organization that regulates the fair distribution of water and embodies the Hindu philosophy of Tri Hita Karana (three causes of happiness: the relationship with God, humanity, and nature).
